CONNECTIONS

In Southern Sudan, there are women that have experienced deep suffering.  Far Reaching Ministries seeks, first, to share the message of salvation with these women, via a program called Rabuna Fi.  The name is Arabic for “God is here”, and through the life-changing power of the Holy Spirit, these women are discovering just that.  They are finding peace and hope in Jesus Christ.

Women with little, or no, education come to Rabuna Fi and are offered an opportunity to truly study the Word of God.  As a discipleship program, Rabuna Fi gives them the chance to grow spiritually.  However, there is also a need to provide for their families.  That’s why the ladies create and sell handcrafted gifts that allow them to tend to their family’s physical and financial needs.

Last summer, I had the opportunity to travel to South Sudan and spend time with the ladies of Rabuna Fi.  In the commons area, I watched as they diligently worked - making necklaces.  Other women checked the completed necklaces for quality and then paid for them.  I noticed their children playing, nearby, and realized that I was getting a unique chance to peek into the world they live in.

Watching this process, it dawned on me that (even though we had never met) I knew all these women!  Their names were familiar to me.  You see, I handle the files of craft receipts from Rabuna Fi when they are sent to the FRM office.  Suddenly, all the names on those receipts had faces… and smiles… and children!  They were no longer only names on receipts, but active and mature believers – involved in community outreach, themselves.  They want, so much, for others to know the transforming power of Jesus Christ.

We invite you to visit our office and see the handmade crafts from the ladies of Rabuna Fi. When you visit, think of them.  If you are too far away to visit our office, you can still support our sisters by hosting a Rabuna Fi party.  A party kit includes everything you need to share, from your own corner of the world, what God is doing in Africa.  For more information, you can reach us at 951-677-4474.

Please come visit us at:
38615 Calistoga Drive, Suite 100
Murrieta, California

Our office is open Monday through Friday, from 8:30am to 5:00pm.
 Hope to see you soon!

HIMSELF By AB Simpson

Once it was the blessing, Now it is the Lord;
Once it was the feeling, Now it is His Word.
Once His gifts I wanted, Now the Giver own;
Once I sought for healing, Now Himself alone.
Once 'twas painful trying, Now 'tis perfect trust;
Once a half salvation, Now the uttermost.
Once 'twas ceaseless holding, Now He holds me fast;
Once 'twas constant drifting, Now my anchor's cast.
Once 'twas busy planning, Now 'tis trustful prayer;
Once 'twas anxious caring, Now He has the care.
Once 'twas what I wanted, Now what Jesus says;
Once 'twas constant asking, Now 'tis ceaseless praise.
Once it was my working, His it hence shall be;
Once I tried to use Him, Now He uses me.
Once the power I wanted, Now the Mighty One;
Once for self I labored, Now for Him alone.
Once I hoped in Jesus, Now I know He's mine;
Once my lamps were dying, Now they brightly shine.
Once for death I waited, Now His coming hail;
And my hopes are anchored, Safe within the vail.

Jamie McKinley: Thanksgiving in Kenya

I always love this time of the year.  I have so many great memories of how my mother would just open her house to anyone who needed a Thanksgiving meal.  The Lord just blessed her with a heart to share the joy of the season with anyone who might not have a home or family to be with.  Thanksgiving in a foreign country is not the same for sure.  First of all there isn't always the traditional foods available, it is NOT considered a holiday, but we as missionaries have learned to make things from scratch or creatively experiment with things to make it seem like tradition. This Thanksgiving I was so blessed to celebrate it twice.  On Thanksgiving day I spent the day with my mission family here in Kenya and met new missionaries as well.  It was a big feast and full of great fellowship that lasted until late.

That week before Thanksgiving I had been talking with a fellow member of the worship/sound ministry and we were talking about what family traditions or memories we loved.  It was then I talked about Thanksgiving and he (of course as a Kenyan) had never celebrated it and didn't know what it was about.  I explained the best memories I had and why I enjoy going back for furlough at Christmas time.  Well every saturday we have worship practice all day and normally have a small lunch of chapatis and avocados with tea.  Well this last Saturday we celebrated Thanksgiving as family in Christ.  The whole worship team, sound, and a few other brothers joined me as we had a thanksgiving lunch at church.   They tried all the food I brought and to my surprise enjoyed all of it.  It was such a great NEW memory, explaining the holiday and then going around the table and each of us giving thanks to God for what He has done this year.

Hope your Thanksgiving was sweet time with loved ones.  I am so thankful to be a part of God's family, no matter where I am in the world I am always with family and it is such a blessing to be a part of His Agape love and united in His great family.  Happy Thanksgiving!

We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks! For Your wondrous works declare that Your name is near.  Psalm 75:1

God's Economy

"So many things should have gone wrong
but, miracle of miracles…”

 Those were the words I heard over the phone.  The Lord had moved the heart of one woman in Hawaii to help provide a church for the women of Loa. Having little shelter from the elements, it could be a place where they could go to be fed God’s word and worship.  Her act of obedience was to organize a garage sale.

Despite a forecast of thunderstorms, the Lord honored with a beautiful day.  His provision continued.  Free advertising, in the form of signs for two other yard sales in the area, directed people to where their purchases would store up treasures in Heaven.

Her sister told her of an article she read that suggested garage sales typically bring in between a minimum of $100 and a maximum of $1000. She asked, “Lord, a $1,000!”  He honored and showed Himself faithful to exceed.  The final total was $1,001!

In true loaves and fish fashion, there was abundance.  The needy that came to purchase clothes were provided for, and an abundance of extra items were donated to the homeless ministry.  They will, in turn, bless others.

Abba, thank you.  All I need do is hear your voice and follow where your Spirit leads.  Your provision for others is not dependent on me, but I praise your Name that you allow me to be a part of the unfolding of your grace and spreading of your gospel.

If you would like to help provide for the ladies of Rabuna Fi, plan on visiting the boutique located in at
38615 Calistoga Dr., Murrieta, CA through December 21st.
 Every dollar you spend in the boutique will be used to bless the ladies of Rabuna Fi!
